A lot of times we hear about IQ (Intelligence Quotient),
measuring how smart the person is. Other times we hear about EQ (Emotional
Quotient) measuring how well a person deals with things emotionally. Will the
person jump off the bridge at the sight of stress or will they handle things
with care under pressure? We rarely hear about AQ (Adaptability Quotient)
having the ability to adapt to change and adjust to transformation. Another popular
unspoken is SQ (Servitude Quotient) having the genuine ability to serve others
despite your needs and doing so with out contention. I do believe all the quotients are necessary
but SQ is the foundation to many relationships and is the key to success in
marriage.
Have you ever been in a relationship that felt like a
garbage disposer? The relationship took anything you gave and rarely
reciprocated it back, lest it got clogged and had to replace it. This is an
often occurrence and possibly the forefront to most relationships but also the
strain on relationships that cause arguments, disagreements and fall out (break
up/divorce).
Imagine receiving everything you ever gave in this world,
good and bad. Wouldn’t that be joyous, I can bet that more people would be
willing to do more good in the world too. As we all love a refund on with what
we out. Now snap back to reality, to a world that is unbalanced in serving and
lovers of taking.
What makes relationships thrive? Well, if I had the answer
Id break the internet with such a revelation. BUT, because I only have one
suggestive principle that adds to the many other factors that contribute to the
success of relationships and marriage, Comcast and Xfinity have nothing to
worry about.
In Luke 22:29, Jesus says “it is better to serve than to be
served”. One should take pleasure in doing for others, rather finding 50 shady
ways to take. My suggestion in relationship and friendship is to consider ways
to serve one another. Yes, money and materials are great, but servitude is
better! In fact, place a bet on who can out serve one another. Not only will
you receive it all back and some, your heavenly father loves a cheerful giver
and repays those abundantly who serves others.
So, my only question to you is, “Who Are You Serving”?
